I know you'll be hesitant to believe the same brand that makes sweats with juicy across the behind can design anything moderately nice, but please give it a try!!

A twist on a department store... some call it the "Gossip Girl " department store as most of the clothing selected resembles the outfits seen on Blair Serena and Jenny. Funky oversized accessories and flirty dresses.

Oak

Hipster haven Oak originated in Brooklyn, but now has a location on bond street. Concrete floors and tarpaper shelves; the racks are lined in sleek and chic blacks and greys. The clothes are asymmetrical, simple and most importantly individual. They feature up and coming designers blended with every hipster’s favorites; commes des garcons meets eairth meets Alexander wang.

Albertine

You will feel like you’re shopping in your best friends closet. The store is tiny and quaint and because of this, each item is deliberately selected. Don't miss this, it might be tiny but you're sure to find something unique.

Big Drop

Careful going in this one, you’re going to want to buy it all. Everything is arranged by color and the dressing rooms are a mix of yummy watermelon colors. Where the staff is notoriously cranky, ignore them and go straight for the shelves.

Seven

Seriously cutting edge pieces from talented and avant-garde designers- really worth looking here if you're in the mood to make a statement. Don't forget to peek at the sublime jewelry, and be ready so splurge!

Think Closet

Stocked with clothing imported from Korea, Japan and Hong Kong. The sizes are small but the clothes are absolutely beautiful. The prices are affordable and best of all is that everything is one of a kind!

Sant Ambroeus

Perhaps it is because I used to go as a young girl with my grandmother, or maybe it is the delicious ice creams, it might even be because its a Blair Waldorf regular, but I absolutely love Sant Ambroeus. Its perfect for brunch, a light lunch, coffee, european pastries and take-out paninis. Although everything is worth trying I recommend the veal piccata with roasted asparagus and taleggio cheese fondue or if you're looking for something slightly less heavy order the sea bass with asparagus and olive oil. Best of all, it is conveniently located uptown, downtown & even in South Hampton.

Bar Pitti

Bar pitti is your neighborhood cash only italian spot. don't expect to get a table the second you walk in, this place is popular and does not take reservations for small tables. this tiny little restaurant packs Big flavor and REAL italian food. the Veal Milanese is delightful, as are the polpetini di vitello. you can't go wrong with any dish here!
In warmer months they open up their fabulous outdoor seating.

Sette Mezzo

Upper East Siders frequent this quaint clean and delicious place. Family owned- they only take cash and don't think your bills will be cheap, you might want to hit up the atm before entering. They feature delicious risottos with truffles, and perfectly fried calamari and zuchinni. The waiters know the food they are serving so ask them for their suggestions.

A fun place to go with a hungry group of carnivores. decorated very dark, each table has its own grill ... I suggest ordering the harami miso (if youre in the mood for very sticky saucy meat), if you want more savory meat skip the kobe beef and go for the filet mignon with salt and pepper. order the sweet potatoes and the asparagus . also, don't underestimate the fish.. its yummmy. save room for desert.. you'll want to try more than one. I recommend the yakimochi and the bananas foster.. but lots of people love the smores- it depends on your mood.

Indochinese on the beach-what could be better? The shrimp, sushi & sashimi are not only tasty they are also fresh. But my most desired dish of all is the chocolate nems dipped in vanilla ice cream. If Asian is not your thing, they serve Mediterranean on the other side of the bar. Here I would recommend the sole- its a dish you can never go wrong with.

The food is good, the crowd is young, the atmosphere is great, and location even better but the real nonpareil here is the clothing store. (NOT DONE- NOT FEELING IT)

boston is a quaint city with lots to offer, the problem is that most people don't know where to look or where to go.

hotels to stay in boston:
15 Beacon- a modern, clean, boutique hotel with an attentive staff. each room comes with a modern glass fireplace. Its an extremely comfortable hotel and a great option for those who want to be downtown (close to emerson, clubs, sports club etc..)

Beacon Hill Hotel and Bistro: I do not recommend staying here, the rooms are extremely small, not necessarily beautifully decorated and the noise from charles street is sure to wake you up early in the morning. However- the bistro is delicious, whether it be for breakfast brunch or dinner the food is simple and flavorful. In the morning order: yogurt with homeade granola and fruit. for dinner: the steak frites is delicious (you would think it were made in a french bistro)

of course there are your usual hotels : the four seasons, the ritz, the taj. the four seasons is the nicest with a great location in between downtown and back bay (where the shopping is!).

which brings me to shopping:::

NEWBURY
Louis Boston is a definite must-see, where the clothes arent for all tastes (more androgenous and edgy) the store is great to visit and has a restaurant on the side (personally the food is not that great they add strange spices to every dish.. bringing a simple plate to an unecessary level) but if you need to rest your feet you might as well do it in style. They have great things for the home and do an excellent job of displaying them.

Calypso: Though there are many calypsos around the world its still a great place to get cashmere sweaters, bags and accesories. Their clothes are a bit beachy for boston (unless you come in the summer!) but they have amazing taste and you really can't go wrong with calypso.

Ricardi: I personally hate this store... its tacky and everyhting is covered in diamante's and drawings of tattoos. but occasionally you can find a hidden treasure. Just keep in mind they charge ridiculous prices as they target the boston international crowd.

Reiss: Reiss has stores in Los Angeles, London, New York and others... but it's still a good place to look. You can find dresses (get this, they have corsets built into them). blouses, scarves (honey v found a fabulous scarf there, which i copied). You might not always find something there, but its a good idea to browse.

there are your usuals on newbury... american apparel, marc jacobs, nanette lepor, steve madden, urban outfitters

worth the trek:
ACHILLES PROJECT- this fantastic space is in the Harbor area.. they are unique in many ways. they feature clothing from cutting edge designers such as Band of Outsiders, Philipa K, Wang by alexander wang and much much more. check out their website for more information. http://achilles-project.com/
its a one stop shop. they also have a restaurant and lounge space... with an xbox and a wii for guests to use! the restaurant has menus of either prix fixe or small medium large plates- a great idea if youre there for a light meal and drinks this place just OOOZES cool!

while youre in the harbor you might as well go get a drink at... DRINK!. a HoneyBee favorite. Drink is a warm well decorated unique space with real mixologists making your cocktails. You tell them what you like and they tailor the beverage just for you. Get there early as there are limited stools.

HoneyBiwi guide to la.

upon arriving in LA the first place everyone wants to go is In-n-Out... its a burger place that is famous because its fresh and delicious.. there is even a secret menu there : protein style (the burger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun) , animal style (with grilled onions), and if your especially hungry from your long flight over there are the animal style fries which are fries covered in grilled onions cheese and special sauce.

though In-n-out is not the place I stop at first ... it seems to be the crowd favorite.

if youre in the mood for something lighter I suggest going to La Scala in Beverly Hills and getting a famous Leon Chopped Salad with tomatoes and dressing on the side. Trust me this is a must-have!

If you happen to be there on a sunday, let me suggest you go to the Beverly Hills Hotel down by the pool and order a Mcarthy Salad and extra plate of lavosh crackers. keep your eyes peeled for celebrities because this is THE place to go on a Sunday.

Shopping in LA is amazing... many say it's better than new york. Start the trip off on Melrose and work your way down. For unique and vintage sunglasses go to City of Angel's Eyewear.. the owner is a great guy and if you call far enough in advanced you can have them pull stock from their wharehouse.. so if you're looking for that perfectly pink pair of shades or something specific... call them.
Fred Segal and Madison are among the well-known LA shopping havens. Fred Segal built a great reputation for themselves and were the pioneers of the boutique shopping experience- but I have to say,, lately it has gone downhill. If you are visiting and want to see it- why not stop by the cafe, grab a fresh squeezed watermelon juice and take a peek around the store... you will notice everything is overpriced and most of it is leftovers from previous seasons. You can always go upstairs and find great dresses shoes and accessories but in my opinion it's nothing special so don't waste your energy there! there's much more to see! cross the street to madison and have a look they have amazing dresses and always great shoes..

my new favorite store in LA is called Opening Ceremony, they have an amazing space just off Melrose and offer items with a wide price range without sacrificing style and presentation.

Lemonade is a cute place to go to eat.. they have different chefs come in each week to feature menus of healthy pot roasts and salads.. they also have yummy cucumber mint lemonade !

The Ivy is a Los Angeles classic and offers endless celeb watching (also see chateau marmont) This is definitely a lunch place. order: crab cakes to start, and the grilled vegetable salad with your choice of chicken or shrimp, and finish it off with a glutenous but delicious berry cobbler. Drink: the Ivy Gimlet is famous.. just dont drink too many- you'll be shopping after that!

After the Ivy go to Curve, though very expensive, the items are classic and refined. Never have I seen anything in this store that seems passe.

Another Robertson favorite is Diavolina. Fun designers like phillip lim are combined with other more well -knowns like Vince. take a peek! they started out as a shoe store so be sure to pay close attention to their collection.

What is great about LA is that it has many different neighborhoods within the city, and each neighborhood offers different styles and attitudes.

for something fresh head over to Venice. abbot kinney is a street packed with charm and great boutiques .. its a small street so start from the bottom and work your way up... stop by the japanese tea garden for a little zen.
